Don't Forget to check before you leave home you have remembered the following: Passports, Tickets and spare money in you hand luggage. Remember Enhanced security measures means that checking in can take longer than it used to. It is advised that you arrive at the airport in plenty of time. Check with your airline the allocated baggage allowance.

Do not pack any of the following: Scissors, Razor blades, Knives with blades of any length, Household cutlery, Hypodermic needles (unless required for medical reasons), Knitting needles.

Check In Information for Terminal 2
Check-in area is located on the ground floor of Terminal 2. Departures and arrivals areas is up one level on the first floor.

Important Information

Boarding usually begins around 45 minutes before departure.

International flights - check in 3 hours prior to departure.
European flights - check in 2 hours prior to departure.
Domestic flights - check in 1 hour prior to departure.
On the ground floor of of Heathrow airport Terminal One is the area for arrivals for international arriving passengers. The baggage reclaim is also located here.

Self service check-in is available with some airlines, it is simple and safe to use and can save you a lot of time at the airport. Self service check-in is available both online and in kiosks located in the airport. Terminal 2 has self service check-in kiosks located near the standard check-in desks. You can use this service if you are flying with the following airlines:

  • Air France
  • Lufthansa

International connections do not need to go through Immigrations or Customs but all International to Domestic connections do.
Domestic to International connections can use the special Immigration check points if baggage is through- checked.

Terminal 2 - Departures
Bureaux de Change
Two Bureaux de Change in Departure area, Travelex open 05:45 - 21:00 and ICE open 06:00 to 21:00. Further ICE Bureau open 07:00 - 19:00. Also two Bureaux serving Arrivals area, ICE 06:00 - 23:00 and Travelex 06:30 - 22:30
Cash Dispensers
Behind the stairs to the mezzanine floor and some near the Dixon's Tax Free and World Duty Free shops on the left side of the floor. Most domestic and international cards accepted.
Food and Drink
Meals, light refreshments and a bar are located on the mezzanine level above the shopping area. There is a coffee bar on the main level.
Information Desk
There are a number of airport enquiries desk, one opposite stairs to mezzanine level and one near the meeting point in the public area.
Internet Access
There is internet access and a wireless hotspot located in the departure lounges, allowing you to enjoy wireless internet access from your laptop.
Left Luggage
None in Arrivals / Departures. Nearest is downstairs in the check-in area at the left (Lufthansa) end. Costs £2.50 per item for up to 6 hours, £3.00 for 12 hours, £3.50 per 24 hour period. Open 06:00 - 22:30.
Luggage Trolleys
Free, available outside the terminal and occasionally in the car park.
Medical
Heathrow Health Centre (opening hours: 07:00 - 19:00) is located on the ground floor between terminals 1 and 2 in the Queens Building. There are also a number of pharmacies located before and after security in terminal 2.

Post Office is below the mezzanine floor next to the toilets. Open 09:00-17:30 Mon-Sat, 09:00-13:00 on Sundays.
Smoking Area
Near the Caviar House restaurant in the passenger departure area and beside the Costa Coffee outlet in the public arrivals area.
Entertainment
There is a video games area on the extreme right hand end of the Departures level opposite the pharmacy.
Shopping
There is a limited range of outlets available, however the extended seating area provides extra choice. The departure lounge offers a much wider range of retail shops, electrical outlets, jewellers and cosmetic stores. Wider selection at better prices at the duty free outlets Airside.
Toilets
Male, female and disabled toilets, and baby changing facilities are available throughout the terminal in both public and passenger areas. Baby care room beside Men's toilet.
Worship
In the departure lounge (after security control), near Gates 18 and 19.
Terminal 2 - Arrivals
Bureaux de Change
Four Bureau de Change in Arrivals area, Travelex open 06:30 to 22:45 and ICE open 07:00 to 23:00. There are another two exchange facilities at the Departures end of the floor.
Cash Dispensers
Two located in main arrivals area. One in between the Post Office and the ICE Bureau de Change, the other is located at the right side of the floor next to the Travelex Bureau de Change.
Hotel Reservations
There is a hotel desk in the Arrivals area.
Food and Drink
Meals, light refreshments and a bar are located on the mezzanine level above the shopping area plus a coffee bar on the main level.

The London Underground and Heathrow Express stations are reached from the Arrivals floor. Follow the signs.

Some bus services leave from the Arrivals forecourt, but most go from the bus station. Follow the signs.
Terminal 2 - Check-in

There is no Bureau de Change facilities in the check-in area, however, there are some located in the departures and arrivals area.

None in the check-in area.

Located in the check-in area at the left (Lufthansa) end. Costs £6 per 24 hours per item (or part thereof). Open 05:30 - 23:00.

Bus Services

You will find shuttle bus services to the pickup points at stands 2 and 3 on the forecourt pickup area outside departures on the ground level for rentals on the airport. For off-airport pickups use stand 8. For the Hotel Hoppa Bus use stand 12.

Most buses will require a change for routes into central London. One useful bus route however that runs from the central bus station and goes all the way into central London and terminates at Aldwych (close to Covent Garden) is the night bus N9. This runs from 23.45 till 5.05 on Sundays and Mondays and 0.05 till 5.35 on all other days.
London buses operate from the central bus station and some from terminal 4 and terminal 5. They are most practical for local transfers since further journeys will normally require one or more bus changes and its not exactly the fastest way to travel.
For taking the bus into central London you can for example:
Take the 111 to Hounslow Bus station. Switch to the 237 to Shepherds Bush. Switch to the 148 into Victoria. Journey time around 150 minutes.
OR
As above but use the 94 instead of the 148 which will take you to Marble Arch. Journey time around 130 minutes.

Heathrow Short Stay Parking

Short Stay Parking is recommended for stays up to five hours, although you can stay for longer if necessary. Short stay parking is available at all five terminals. It is useful if you are seeing someone off or meeting someone from a flight. There is also an additional car park in the central terminal area, car park 1a.

Heathrow Business Parking

Recommended for travellers parking for up to three or four days, or those wanting greater speed and convenience. Business car parks are located closer to the terminals than long stay and operate a more frequent courtesy coach transfer. They are available for all five terminals. Prices range from £21.50 - £26.50 per day.

Heathrow Long Stay Parking

The Long Stay Car Park for Terminal 5 is located on the Northern Perimeter Road, and offers secure parking facilities with regular patrols and CCTV monitoring. The transfer service runs every 10 minutes, and takes about 10 minutes to reach the terminal from the car park.

Heathrow Valet Parking

With valet parking a chauffeur meets you at a pre-arranged time at your departure terminal and parks the car for you in a secure compound. When you return, your car will be dropped back to you.
