Luton Airport

Luton Airport's £40 million terminal was developed in November 1999 and officially opened by HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

The terminal houses 60 check-in desks, modern baggage and flight information systems and a wide range of shops, restaurants and bars.

The check in desks are located along the length of the terminal wall opposite the entrance and exits.

Departure Lounges and Arrivals Meeting Point are accessed through the walkway from the main terminal building.

Regular shuttle bus service between Luton Airport Parkway and London Luton Airport terminal, running every 10 minutes between 05:00 and midnight, also connects with all trains calling at Luton Airport Parkway overnight.

Rail passengers can purchase through tickets to London Luton Airport. Passengers arriving at Luton Airport Parkway station without a through ticket to the Airport and wishing to use the shuttle bus, will pay an Excess Charge of £1.00 each way if they arrive at the station by train. Passengers, without purchasing a rail ticket, arriving at the airport or at the station will pay a bus fare of £1.50 single, £2.50 Standard Day Return and £3.00 Standard Open Return (children pay half price).

Luton Airport by Train

A shuttle bus service connects the airport to the Luton Airport Parkway train station, a distance of just over a mile in eight minutes. The service runs every ten minutes between 05:00 and midnight and also connects with all trains calling at Luton Airport Parkway overnight.

Rail passengers will be able to purchase through tickets to London Luton Airport.  Those passengers arriving at Luton Airport Parkway station without a through ticket to the Airport and who wish to use the shuttle bus will pay an Excess Charge of £1.00 each way if they arrive at the station by train.

Passengers arriving at the airport or at the station without purchasing a rail ticket will pay a bus fare of £1.50 single, £2.50 Standard Day Return and £3.00 Standard Open Return (children pay half price).

From there, First Capital Connect operates regular services to stations including King’s Cross, Farringdon, London Bridge and Blackfriars in Central London. The new buses are 18 metres long and can accommodate up to 115 passengers plus baggage. A standard single costs £10.90.

First Capital Connect

First Capital Connect operates a fast, frequent service direct between central London and Luton Airport Parkway train station. Luton Airport Parkway is around 25 minutes away from St. Pancras international station.

When you land at London Luton Airport, catch the Luton Airport shuttle bus from outside the terminal at Bay 1. This will take you to Luton Airport Parkway station in around 10 minutes where you can catch a First Capital Connect train southbound into London and on to Brighton, or northbound towards Bedford.

Regular rail services to central London take as little as 21 minutes with East Midlands Trains and 25 minutes with First Capital Connect. Other destinations include the south coast, the Midlands and northern England.

A shuttle bus service operates to and from Luton Airport Parkway Station, this is normally just a 5 minute trip from the airport terminal building. The service runs every ten minutes between 05:00 and midnight and also connects with all trains calling at Luton Airport Parkway overnight, please check train times for details.

East Midlands Trains

East Midlands Trains operates services from London to the East Midlands and Yorkshire. Its London terminal is St Pancras International.

Service to/from London Luton Airport Parkway takes around 21 minutes.

Virgin Rail Link
Bay 7- Express service to Milton Keynes Station.

Virgin Trains Express Coach
This dedicated airport coach link service runs from Milton Keynes railway station direct to the airport terminal. Conveniently timed to connect with Virgin Trains services to/from the West Midlands and the West, the service runs hourly from early until late, seven days each week.

Green Line

Green Line 757 provides an express coach link between London Luton Airport and Central London from Bays 10 & 11. If travelling with a group of more than 15 people call +44 (0)1582 584478 (open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

National Express

National Express services depart from bays 4, 5 & 6 to destinations across the UK. Direct services from London Luton Airport include:

  • Service 707 to Northampton, 7 times a day
  • Service 737 to High Wycombe and Oxford, 8 times a day
  • Service 767 to Leicester and Nottingham, 9 times a day
  • Service 777 to Coventry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton, up to 11 times a day  
  • Service 787 to Cambridge, 10 times a day

National Express also operates services from London Luton Airport to/from:

easyBus

easyBus offers a high frequency, low cost express bus service between Central London and Luton Airport. easyBus coaches run 24-hours a day between the airport and Central London.

There are stops at Brent Cross, Finchley Road, Baker Street, Oxford Street/Marble Arch and London Victoria.

Online Fares start at £2 one-way and vary according to demand. easyBus operates this service in partnership with Greenline. Located at Bays 10 & 11 outside the main terminal building.

Coach Transfers
Coaches are a very economical way to travel into the city centre. Due to congestion on the motorways, they can take much longer than the train, but can be muchcheaper.

The UK's main coach company National Express runs frequent, comfortable services from Heathrow (about 1 hour) , Gatwick (about 1h20), Stansted (about 1h30) and Luton (about 1h20) to  Victoria coach station, the main hub for British coach travel, where coaches and trains can be caught to many other parts of the UK and Europe, or the tube taken to your destination in central London.

National Express has a so-called "funfare", an off-peak fare, which is much cheaper than the train, e.g. Victoria Station (central London) to Southampton costs only 4 pounds on-way, compared with 26 on the train! Other companies such as Terravision also offer low-cost coach travel from Stansted and Luton, with discounts for Ryanair passengers. GreenLine and EasyBus also offers a coach service from London Luton airport, with discounts for EasyJet passengers. All the coach services operate very frequently and tickets can be bought online or at the airport when you arrive.

EasyBus operates a non-stop service from London Luton to central London 24-hours a day. It is a low-cost operator, though its vehicles all feature air-conditioning. running 24-hours a day between the airport and Central London. There are stops at Brent Cross, Finchley Road, Baker Street, Oxford Street/Marble Arch and London Victoria. Fares start at £2 one-way and vary according to demand. easyBus operates this service in partnership with Greenline. Medium sized bags are carried free, as well as hand-baggage. Its lowest fares are only available for passengers booking on its website, though tickets are available from the EasyBus sales desks in the international arrivals hall.

Terravision also operated a low cost service from Luton airport to Victoria station stopping at Brent cross, Marble arch and Baker street.

The Green Line 757 coach service goes to Victoria Coach Station with stops at Brent Cross, Finchley Road Station, Baker Street, Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch. Services run 24 hours a day, every 15 – 20 minutes during the day and every half hour in the evening. The journey takes 1 hour 15 minutes. A standard one-way ticket costs £11.

Luton Airport by Taxi

There are taxis queuing for customers at Luton Airport. Enquire with the driver or mini-cab company beforehand how much your journey will cost. A metered trip to/from Central London should cost £70 to £80.

To and From the East and A1

Access to London Luton Airport from the East and A1 is via the A505 dual carriageway through Hitchin. The airport lies just off the A505 and is clearly signposted.

To and From the M25

Access to London Luton Airport from the West is possible through several routes. If approaching via Dunstable, follow the airport signs. Alternative approaches include travelling via M40/M25 to join the M1 and then exit via Junction 10. Exit the M25 at Junction 21 for the access to the M1.

To and From the M1

London Luton Airport is only 30 minutes from North London, 15 minutes from the M25 and 5 minutes from the M1. The airport is just two miles from the M1 motorway. Exit the M1 at Junction 10. The route to the airport is clearly signposted.

Advanced Notification of Road Closure and Diversion on route to London Luton Airport

From 10th January 2011, Lower Luton Road will be closed between the junctions with Station Road and Common Lane for approximately six weeks for essential highway drainage works.

A signed diversion route with advanced warning will be in place and the closure will be in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please allow extra time for your journey to the Airport if using this route.

Short Term Parking

Short Term Parking is our premium product, which is situated just minutes from the terminal. You can save up to 60% off the gate price when you book in advance on-line. Parking for motorcycles is available free of charge in the Short Term Car Park.

Mid Term Parking

Ideally suited for a stay of up to 5 days.

Long Term Parking

Ideal for stays of 5 days or more.

Disabled Parking

Designated disabled parking bays are available in the Short Term, Mid Term and Long Term Car Parks.  The Mid Term and Long Term Car Parks are serviced by a fully accessible shuttle bus. 

Drop Off Zone

Vehicles will be permitted into the drop off zone solely for the convenience of departing passengers and may stay a maximum of 10 minutes; the driver MUST remain with the vehicle at all times.  This facility is NOT open for 'pick up' or collection of arriving passengers.

Arriving passengers should be collected from the short stay car park where normal parking charges apply.

Vehicles left unattended in the drop off zone will be towed away. Vehicles present for more than the permitted 10 minutes will incur charges as follows:

10-15 minutes £5.00
More than 15 minutes £25.00
Vehicles in the drop-off zone for more than 15 minutes are liable to be towed at a cost of £176.50

  1. Mid Term Car Park - FREE Drop Off, FREE Pick Up and FREE Parking for up to 30 minutes. 5 minute* FREE bus ride to the terminal.
  2. Short Term Car Park -Drop Off, Pick Up and Parking £3.20 for 15 minutes, £4.80 for 30 minutes. FREE disabled parking for up to 60 minutes, 4 minute walk to the terminal.
  3. Priority Set Down - Drop Off only. £1.00 for up to 10 minutes. Cars must not be left unattended. 2 minute walk to the terminal
