London Airports

London's five airports combine to serve more destinations and traffic than any other city in the world. Heathrow is the world's busiest airport, Gatwick serves the most routes.

Heathrow Airport is the UK's biggest and busiest airport with flights to just about anywhere in the world with major carriers. It has five terminals and is well connected with good transport links. There's lots of good information, maps, and it also lists all the shops and restuarants you can visit whilst you are killing time. It has recently launched a Twitter account,, which is manned by Heathrow staff who will give you advice whilst you are on the move.

While all the airports (Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted) call themselves a London airport, none are actually within London. Originally London was any area with a London postcode which none of the above have. However in modern times London is taken as any area within the M25 motorway which places Heathrow alone within Greater London.
