Reviews of Top 5 Star Hotels in London

The Ritz:

This Hotel is for those who like extravagance and for the affluent. If you want modern, high tech or hotel chain style service and, or, accommodations then this hotel is not for you. However, if you seek formal elegance, world class service and that formal old world charm, this hotel simply cannot be beat, if you can afford it.

The Ritz for their famous afternoon tea and will not be disappointed.

The Landmark

The hotel was built in 1899 as the 'Great Central Hotel', it was the last of the great Victorian railway hotels. It was requistioned during both wars by the government and after the second wolrd war converted into office spaces. It became the headquarters for the British Transport Commission. It only reopened as a hotel in 1995.

The hotel is set in a beautiful 8-storey atrium, with fabulous palm trees stretching up to the glass ceiling. Its a good place for a relaxing weekend in the spa and dinner. Watch out for extras - Internet is 16,95 GBP.

St Martin's Lane, Charing Cross

Known for its quirky nature which is aided and abetted by Phillipe Starck’s rather unique designs. The reception is designed as an 'open coffin'. Keep an eye out for the Dali Lip Couch and the Andy Warhols adorning the walls. Room service is swift and portion sizes are good - at a price.
The Hempel, Paddington

The garden is stunning and suprisingly quiet for its location. The rooms are all different, but always modern and elegant. No carpets, but solid wooden floors. Wallpaper magazine at the bedside, some design elements of the hotel would still look good in the magazine. Bathrooms are large, Windows can be opened.

Baglioni Hotel, Kensington

The Baglioni is the epitome of luxury hotels in London, a great location - opposite Hyde park. Attention to detail at every level, from the materials on the walls, little objects of art around, and the finish of the rooms.
Athenaeum Hotel
The restaurant service is exceptional; attentive, friendly, jovial, efficient. It feels like you’re dining in the living room as every chair is a big comfy chair. Good value for money.

Royal Lancaster Hotel, Paddington

The Hotel is quite large situated along Hyde Park. Hotel has the ‘Island’ restaurant which is good but expensive. Has helpful staff.
Charlotte Street Hotel, Fitzrovia
Great place to meet friends after work. Has gorgeous rooms - some have fireplaces.
Sanderson London Hotel
One of the best (and original) contemporary botique hotels. The old office block exterior does not give any clues as to the wonder of the Phillippe Starck or the wonderful playful pieces of art. Not cheap.
K West Hotel, Kensington
The hotel tends to attract alot of music celebs. Rooms are good, the food is superb, and the drinks selection good enough, though expensive.
